Rapid Product Development
Originally planned to be a white labeled fillet knife, project stake holders determined a need for a custom handle design to fill gaps in the Googan Squad product lineup.
To meet production schedule, design and development of the new fillet knife had to be completed within a span of 2 weeks.

Accelerated Concepting
Rapid iteration and development was achieved through light sketch-work and the use of parametric CAD models over engineering parts. This allowed for fast and accurate communication with the various stakeholders.

Human-Centered Design
3D printing was critical for evaluating ergonomics. Several versions of the aesthetic concept was modeled and printed to assess comfort and grip.

Design for Manufacture
In addition to ensuring that the design was compatible with OEM hardware, the topographic patterns on the handle were developed with input from the manufacturing partner to accommodate their molding processes.

Finalized CMF
Black soft-touch handles were ultimately selected for their ability to hide dirt, while also allowing for an alternating color scheme that incorporates a black blade.
